Road Trips in Ibiza: 5 Easy Itineraries to Discover the Island
If you feel like discovering Ibiza’s most natural side at a relaxed pace, a car (or motorbike) gives you that freedom: pine-lined roads, hidden coves, and viewpoints that appear “out of nowhere.” And the best part? Many routes can be done in half a day, leaving you plenty of time to return to San Antonio and unwind.
Before you set off, two key tips to enjoy it more (and spend less): start early in high season to park more easily, and avoid the hottest hours if you plan to walk (there are areas with very little shade). If you’re choosing a hotel in Ibiza, San Antonio is a very practical base for getting around the entire island.
South of salt and dunes
We set off towards Sant Josep to enter the Ses Salines Natural Park via a paved and well-marked road. The route offers views of ponds and salt mounds, with moderate traffic in summer.
From the Ses Salines and Es Cavallet parking areas, there are short walkways to observe the lagoons and direct access to the beach. Bring water and sun protection; there is little shade during midday hours.
Key moment: stop at Cap des Falcó for a quick panoramic view and photo. The return via Sa Caleta adds reddish cliffs and easy access before heading back to San Antonio.
West of cliffs and sunset
Today’s plan takes us along the west coast. Skirting the bay, it connects Cala Salada, Cala Bassa, and Cala Comte. These are short stretches, with regular parking areas and clear access; it’s best to arrive early in high season.
Add Cala d’Hort for a view of Es Vedrà. If you feel like it, take a short trail to the Torre des Savinar with comfortable shoes and a bottle of water. Stops of 20–40 minutes work well.
Highlight of the day: sunset from Comte or d’Hort. Return with enough daylight via Sant Josep and, if you’d like to have dinner, there are options along the way or upon arrival in San Antonio.
Wild North: Es Amunts
For a relaxed day, head up through Santa Gertrudis and Sant Miquel to the Port of Sant Miquel. Secondary road with curves and good surface; parking is available by the port.
Visit the Cova de Can Marçà (regular tours) and continue to Portinatx. From the village, the path to the Moscarter Lighthouse is easy, well-marked, and offers wide views.
Favorite stretch: the area around the lighthouse for its panoramic views of the northern coast. End with a swim at Cala Xarraca or S’Illot des Renclí before returning at a relaxed pace.
Interior agrícola y almendros
If the sea is rough, the inland route is a safe bet. Santa Agnès and Sant Mateu offer gentle curves, stone walls, and shade. Ideal for half a day and windy days.
Park near the church of Santa Agnès and walk to the viewpoint. In winter, you’ll see almond trees in bloom; the rest of the year, fields and pine forests. Wineries and small bars make for a pleasant stop.
Star viewpoint: sa Penya Esbarrada (“Gates of Heaven”), offering wide views of the coast and forest. End in Santa Gertrudis for a coffee and an easy return to San Antonio.

Where to Stay to Do These Routes (Without Complications)
